In fact we never were, but our OpenVZ host turned out to be incompatible with the latest initscripts, which depends on devtmpfs to boot properly. After much time of hacking (Murphy's Law involved), sed -i "/devtmpfs/d" /etc/rc.sysinit did the trick.
Services that were gone: main website, git projects, bug tracker and xmpp services.
